projectfive go live with Exchange 2010

During the course of this week, projectfive will be migrating our email to the latest Microsoft Exchange 2010 solution.

We’ve been providing hosted Exchange services to local businesses for the last 8 years, and the migration to Exchange 2010 represents another step forwards for us.

Exchange 2010 builds on the good work done with our current Exchange 2007 platform – so we’ve got the usual integration with the iPhone, synchronisation across multiple PCs, Calendar and Contacts sharing, Remote Access,  and the luxury of having immediate Business Continuity available.

And then we’re looking forward to reaping some of the benefits of having up to … Continue Reading

Bracknell and Berkshire Business Expo – 3rd March 2010

projectfive are ready for our first Business Exhibition of 2010 and we’re looking forward to meeting lots of local businesses.

We’ve tried to tell a few people that we’ll be taking a new approach this time and trying to be ‘low key’ – but nobody will believe us.  I guess they know us too well!

So, despite what we say, you will be able to spot us – we’re the first stand you’ll see when you come into the Exhibition Hall, and we’ll be sporting our usual bright orange colours.

Wednesday 3rd March is the date and Bracknell is the location.

We won’t be … Continue Reading

Feedback from last month’s Christmas Card article

I know it’s now February, and that the thought of reading an article on Christmas Cards may not be appealing – but there’s some useful discussion happening on this subject.  So, read on…

I’d like to thank everyone for the feedback on the Christmas Card conundrum that I discussed in January’s techbytes.  It seems as though I was not the only one who’d spent time thinking about the effect that sending Christmas Cards has – it’s been on your minds for a few years now, it seems.

So, before I share some of the views of other techbytes readers, a quick … Continue Reading

Who you gonna choose? The great Browser Ballot is coming your way…

From Monday 1st March onwards, you will be forced to make a choice.  As a result of the EU Anti-Trust battle with Microsoft, you will be presented with a choice on what web browser you want to use.

When your next Windows update runs, you will be given the choice of whether you want to use Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Apple’s Safari or Google’s Chrome.  Each of these will be presented to you in a random order and you will be asked which one you want to use going forwards.

Having made your choice, your computer will install the web browser and … Continue Reading

Microsoft Office 2010 pricing announced

Microsoft has announced the UK price of Office 2010 and the great news is that it’s going to be cheaper than Office 2007.  And, they will be offering a new Starter version free with new PCs.

A new version called Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 will be priced at £239.99, which represents a good saving over the previous Standard version of Office 2007 which costs £349.99. The new package will also include the OneNote note-taking program plus Office Web Apps, so you will get more software as well as a price cut!

And, further savings will be available for those willing … Continue Reading

A new recruit…

Congratulations to Andy and Marie – their daughter, Genevieve (Yvie), was born this morning at 09:34, weighing in at 7lb 11oz.

Andy has been with projectfive for a while now, and is known to most of our clients.  I know you will all join us in wishing him all the best as a new father.  And, now that he has a daughter, he might leave work on time (though Steve still doesn’t!)

We’ll have to sort out an orange projectfive t-shirt for her!

A report from our first ‘tweetup’…

We know, from the work that Steve’s been doing with both Shipleys and Menzies, that you all know whatTwitter Twitter is.  But, we also know that there’s a lot of you who are not using Twitter yet.  (See the results of the Shipley’s Breakfast Club survey – 100% of attendees had heard of it, yet less than 30% were actually using  it).

Therefore the language used in Twitter may still be quite new to you.

So, what is a Tweetup?  Well, in simple terms, it’s a Networking Event (meet-up) that’s been organised on Twitter.

We noticed that … Continue Reading
